Fiesta ST Mountune: 212bhp for £17.5K?
« on: August 22, 2013, 09:05:49 pm »

This must be the performance hatch bargain of the decade, surely. A sweet chassis with fine handling breathed over by Mountune to give Mk7 GTi beating performance for £17.5K!!!

212bhp, 236lb/ft, 0-60 in 6.4secs? The standard ST is described as 'Outstanding' by Matt Saunders of Autocar, so this could be a great. I'd love to drive one.

Fun Golf: 2016 mk7 R DSG 3 door. Work Golf: 2015 mk7 1.4 TSI GT ACT 5 door.
Gone but not forgotten : mk2 Golf GTI 16v, mk4 Golf V6 4Motion, mk5 GTI Storm Developments Stage 1, mk5 GTI Revo Stage 1, BMW 330ci, Skoda Octavia VRS Revo Stage 2, BMW Z4 Sdrive35i.

The stock ST got rave reviews so this should be a hoot

Mountune are very respectable tuners and give a very OEM feel to their upgrades  :happy2:

Are you considering it Ian?  :innocent:

Ive driven the Fiesta ST.  Its absolutely phenomenal to drive. great looking car as well.  Engine felt flat but thats after geting out of a stage 2 1.4TSI with 220Hp so not a surprise tbh.

As someone has said already all the reviews on the fiesta st have said what a great hot hatch it is, hopefully il get a drive of this one day. Got to say I'm not a fan at all of this wide fish mouth of a bumper ford are putting on the cars now. One more thing that isn't really anything to do with the post but for me this doesn't look any more sporty than a gti but the golf seems to get bashed for not looking crazy where as this doesn't.

I had a new shape Focus hire car a while back, just a poxy eco version on skinny tyres, but by God did it handle amazingly.

The point being, they're putting a massive amount of effort into making cars fun. For that money, and let's face it, you'll either get a huge chunk off or pick up a nearly new for buttons... it's a great smile inducing weapon.
Sideways yo!

I saw a Fiesta ST today... in a deep purple colour, and it did look pretty tasty. ( I even think that the new mundano looks good.... whats happening to me?)

Fords have always been decent in the handling department... The Mk1 focus was great fun, just lacked power but still quicker than the 2.0 Mk4 GTI which really should never have had the badge.  Was the first car I had with ESP.  Wouldn't mind a Mk1 RS as a toy.

So what?

Buy one, enjoy it and lose £10.5k in depreciation...buy a mk7 gti, enjoy it and lose £15k over the same period...yes the Golf will be 'worth' more than the fiesta but you've still lost an extra 5 grand...

Anyhow, fantastic little car and if I could justify another car I'd be down to Ford like a shot to buy one for Mrs Beddie  :happy2:

Exactly. Cheapest Titty Arse on AT is around 3 years old and £23K, which I reckon is a whole lot more than a new Fiesta ST in depreciation costs...
