How do you store your detailing kit?
« on: August 22, 2013, 09:23:25 pm »
Evening.

I need to sort somewhere to keep my stuff! Currently in a big plastic tub in the garage getting squashed and lost!

I was tempted by one of those tool boxes on wheels. Space in my garage is limited due to extreme amounts of clutter!!

Ideas?!

I have a few of those big plastic tray thing on wheels: http://images.littlewoods.com/is/image/Littlewoods/prodDetailMain-300x400/home-collection-3drawer-plastic-storage-unit|A912_SP571_08_TM359b.jpg

And some shelves.

Honestly, clear up the clutter and find some better ways of storing stuff. Makes it easier in a rush.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

My stuff is in a wire basket and some cardboard boxes, all on the garage floor. It's a mess and needs sorting.

I like the stackable containers with sealable lids you can tidy everything away quickly.  I've recently fitted the old kitchen base and wall units, sink and work surfaces in the garage; even painted the old concrete floor. Rewind 6 months and you could barely get in there.  It's amazing how much happier it makes you feel to have a sorted garage, LOL.

This!  :happy2:

Lots of shelves and boxes for me, I'm very anal. Everything has a place and there's a place for everything. Woe betide anyone who messes with my stuff.

And OP, clean your garage!!

I've got a genuine Meguiars kit bag but B&Q do some great builders type bags which look pretty much the same & there less than a tenner.Loads of pockets & zips etc.
ED35. Standard factory condition.

Oh my god I've opened a can of worms here!!!

I was going to put a picture up but I think it might tip you lot over the edge!

I will probably tidy it up then go up to B&Q etc and see what's what!

Best bet is to hit b and q

Got a few of the tool carrying trays for all my products, keep my clothes in an old gym bag to keep dust and dirt getting to them

Its just a way of life.

All stacked neat and tidy in a detailers bag and the extras in one of those little plastic trays you get for household cleaning stuff, major issue is that it's in the cupboard under the stairs where the boiler is, probably the last place on earth it should be as it's so hot. Mind you my mitt and towels dry very quickly though. :signLOL:

Yesterday I went for it - I got in that garage and became ruthless! I got rid of 10 full big bin bag type strong bags of junk and loads of other stuff that wouldn't fit in them! It took 2 car loads to get it to the tip.

First time i've had the seats down on the MK5 - protective sheeting on every possible surface

Before pics - don't hate me!!

After -

A couple of the wall cupboards want clearing still but it's largely done  and as you can see - we keep a car in there so space is limited!
