You have to put the "trim" around the edge otherwise it will just look balls. you attach the trim and the board with a staple gun.

No problem over the artex, once the batons are up it doesnt matter whats on the existing ceiling.

The lights were too deep so we drilled the boards and then drilled up through the existing ceiling.
