When you say plenty of people, how many actually have had a rns installed fir a while and have just updated and now have a drained battery ?

3 people on one thread. What is your problem exactly? Im not saying its directly related to the firmware, but the Can gateway, its just co-incidence that those people have also updated to 26xx.

Im not sure if you genuinely seem to think you are trying to be helpful, but from my perspective its like you are trolling my posts.

Think he may have misunderstood your post and is asking if it's a problem with replacing the unit for the RNS510.

Have you got any fault codes on VCDS? Reason I ask is because when my Fan was draining the Battery it logged a fault on VCDS.

If not try going to the 11XX firmware and see if you still have the same problem.

Oh and Halfords are doing a fairly decent battery charger for £38 at the moment. Might be worth getting one as it also does maintenance.

Can't think of anything else at the moment that could be the issue.

I recently updated from version A to version B (fw1100) iirc. Im not sure im seeing any further functionality with this new firmwear update??

Is it worth doing it?? and if its not successful can you go back to 1100??

Currently running v4 maps but without speed camers.

thx

Carl, i dont have 1100. But i am confident the issue i am having with battery drain is with the Can gateway revision i have in my car. I do not have VCDS.

The CAN gateway issue has been around for months with this upgrade - I read a lot about it when looking at the options for putting a RNS510 in my car - I'd say its pretty much a dead cert thats your problem and not the firmware

Just had a thought

Didnt you say you had bought a dual antenna adaptor thingymajig from VW?

If you did could this be causing a problem and making the Radio Permanently live hence causing the CAN gateway to be faulty?

Not saying that is the solution just a thought

No, i didnt bother. Just took the Fakra adapter apart and fitted the metal connector straight on.

I have downgraded FW to 1100. Lots of people reporting power drain issues on cars with the 2600 FW. Must be an issue with earlier CAN Gateways and later firmware.

The files that get updated on the V4 disc I have with speed camera's are the CDROM.TOC and some of the POI IDX and HTML files under the tpd\ntcWeu_eu_20081110\ENG folder.

I suspend the v4 disc I have is the source of the problem not the speed camera overlay

Thanks Mr P for updating my RNS yesterday at Ed38, I also get the Speed Limits in KPH how do I change this to MPH?  :chicken:

The original source disk is whats causing the problem. You could reinstall V3 or a non-speed camera POI V4 and that should fix it. (I think) or just remember that 1km=5/8mile. :ashamed:

^^^^ This is a feature of the latest firmware that Greeners doesn't have on the R yet, I only gave him the disc yesterday.

I am already working on an updated speed camera POI disk which will get the speed limitation data in MPH.

Hi i'm new here, got directed from another forum i'm on. Ive tried everything to get the new fw on my rns510 but the unit wont recognise the discs, ive gone through about 10discs ha. I was wondering if anybody could send me in the post a copy of this fw, the fw that you need if you brick it and a copy of maps? I'd obviously pay you for your troubles via paypal, and also after retrofitting my rns510 the mfsw buttons wont operate it and i get no info in my MFD anymore. Anybody know why? Thanks

^^^ Has your RNS-510 been coded to the car with VCDS or the dealer tool?

If not then this is probably why is it's working with the MFSW or MFD.
