The Skoda UHV bluetooth 1Z0 035 729 B (1Z0035729B) has an issue with RNS 510 firmware 2600 and above, with some phones it no longer displays the phone book and/or the call details although signal strength etc are visible for some phones. However, the MFD functions as per normal with phone book and last calls listed correctly, so it's not the end of the world. My Blackberry 8310 worked fine with firmware 1200 and below but it only partially works with any firmware above this (ie 2600 and above). However my Iphone 3G works perfectly with any version of firmware. Apparently this is not a problem with the 1Z0 035 729 D (1Z0035729D) Skoda UHV bluetooth kit and I hear that Android 2.1 phones work fine with the update.

As above, mine works fine with Iphone but doesn't display phone book etc on Nokia E51!

Also, there is a greyed out bluetooth logo on the media menu. Is this supposed to work with an iphone? It would be good if it did. :happy2:

TonyZ

Does no-one else have the bluetooth icon on the media menu??

TonyZ

Hi TonyZ

Yes mate i have the greyed out bluetooth icon on the media screen, i'm using 729B i believe audio transfer via bluetooth A2DP is only compatable with 729 D but then still has loads of bugs if you read vwnavi and google search it its quite hard to get working.
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

Anyone know how to tell what version unit you have?

Mine shows in VCDS as:
Part No SW: 1T0 035 680 C    HW: 1T0 035 680 A

So is this an A or a C version?? It was sold to me as a C.

I've been trying to sort out an issue with the MFSW buttons not working and want to update to 2760 but the SWL  keeps failing on initialisation and reverts to 2680 firmware.

I've tried every combination in VCDS to try to get the buttons to function under the audio menu (works fine on all other menus, eg MFD) and have disabled and enabled MFSW in VCDS too (rebooting RNS 510 after each change..ugh). I am fairly sure it's the firmware causing it to not work...

Relevant info: 2008 MkV Golf R32, L Gateway, red dot full height display, RNS 510 running firmware 2680, MFSW with one phone button, star and volume controls on the left and up/down, menu and OK on the right ones.

That looks like a version A that's already had a recent firmware update.

What firmware is it showing under VCDS?

It soun like it's running a modified skoda firmware, have you tried the latest 2720?

Thanks for the quick reply. I though that it was an A version when I read that. I am not really happy considering that it was advertised as a C version.

Anyway, it's definitely 2680 firmware that it's running. I tried to update to 2760 but it won't load. It reads the discs fine, I've burnt several on different settings and verified every time, but it gets to starting loading the new firmware and comes up with an error and reverts to the 2680 firmware. I have considered popping in a hacked version of the firmware (by a chap going by the nick of Josi) that should work on an A unit. Just not sure whether I should take the risk or not...

You can't update an A Version past 268X

272X onwards does NOT support A version units.

The only way you can get 272X on there is to use Josi's firmware. It works fine as i have it installed on Both of my MFD3's in my Octavia's which are both A versions

Just make sure you download the VW version not the Skoda version. This should then fix the Issue's with your MFSW. If not then the MFSW is incorrectly coded.

Thanks guys! I took the plunge and used Josi's modified firmware and it all works like it should now. One happy camper....now to start the bluetooth install and reverse camera retrofit (not looking forward to the work involved in the last one, though!) :drinking:

It cannot be done Mojo even UV Worldwide cannot do the hack for it... best bet would be to buy the VIM module from ebay or Kufatec.

EDIT: I take it Josi's modified FW is the one that is in 4 parts on the MY GTI website?

What icon do you have on the top right button, next to eject?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Sounds like version B. Think version C had a star and version A had a moon symbol.
V8 maps should be fine. Will probably need to update firmware first.
