another revo vs giac vs r-tech thread
« on: August 23, 2013, 09:43:44 pm »
Hi i have an ed30 which is Revo stage 2+,but wondering if i should switch software because....

1.the stage 1 dsg map wont allow any more torque,(in talks with revo over this).surely i can raise this to stage2+ levels eg 340 not 300 what statllers can get it to at min.

2.im thinking of wmi soon and dont think the revo software will support that.

3.R-tech.nuff said.

4.im sick of washing off black deposits of the bumper and boot.

Has the revo software been left behind a little now?.
stage 2+ Grey Ed30..DSG 362 BHP.380 lb/ft.....Also Statller Tuned :)

I've often thought about trying the giac extreme but even if it was better or more powerful to revo stage 2+ the difference is most likely marginal.

I agree.  Same with all the big tuning companies.  Once you have one lot of software its pointless changing unless A: you're loaded and dont care about cost, or B:  Its an awesome offer!

I had more torque than 300lbsft without any dsg software, if anything, I gained torque with a stage 1 dsg map

Torque is pointless unless you can put it on the Tarmac in a controlled manor.

TIV mapping speaks for itself @Rtech.

I'd sooner have a smoother delivery remap then one that may have a a higher peak torque figure. On a FWD car, it's essential to have a more smooth delivery rather then sitting there, spinning up.

I'm 45lb ft less then I had with bluefin, but my car now is half sec quicker to 60 on testing.

Can anyone comment on giac power delivery ?

Someone call?

The GIAC power delivery at stages 1 to 2+ are what you could expect from most other tuners. It is quite aggressive and on the extreme stage 2+ map needs a 3" MAF housing on the intake. Obviously my circumstance is a little different as I now have the GIAC stage 3 map to go with the upgrade Loba turbo. Deploying the power at stage 2+ with FWD is always going to be down to grip and so you should be looking at something like Federal 595-RSR's or Toyo R1R's at least.

Im on wmi with revo (ed30stage2+) and have adjusted my timing up to 7 even 8 with it on. It works wonders. Without it I can only run 5.#

So it does work  :happy2:

Hurdy, where do you get the 3" MAF housing, I can't seem to find one? Hoping someone does the 3"MAF housing and silicon to turbo with DV pipe too.

I believe the Evoms intake has a 3" Maf housing but mapping needs to correct for it.

Does it? I thought that only had similar to standard size. I've seen some MAF housings for sale on ATP turbos but you'd struggle to get a silicone bend with the dv part :(
Was hoping someone made the 3" housing an silicone

There are only two options, Forge made some custom ones for Steve Jr at Statllers, but Forge may also stock them now. Using this method you have to custom make piping to the turbo from the MAF. Secondly you'd have to but the full VF Engineering intake which has a 3" MAF.
