Water Meth-making the most of Water meth Inj with a remap
« on: August 26, 2009, 05:49:46 pm »
Im getting rid of my bluefin for something a bit more pokey and was thinking along the lines of REVO or a custom map.
im also going to get snow perfomance water meth injection for xmas.

I never use below 98 ron fuel. normally use shell V power 100.

Am i right in saying that with higher grade fuel you can advance your timing and gain more performance?
Water meth cools inlet temps and preventing early detonation, just like using an even higher grade fuel.

With REVO and the select plus switch you can change boost, timing, etc.

Could i set the revo up to take into account the water meth by advancing the timing, and if i decide to turn the water meth off then bring the timing back to the nrmal revo settings?

You need to invest in VCDS and a Micro-Can lead or Hex Can lead from rosstech so that you can log the car after you make changes

You have to be careful that you dont have too much timing pull when advancing the ignition timing

if i was to do it i would have it set up on a RR and with logs, and find out what settings work best with both, then when im using the water meth i can use the more aggressive settings from the dyno and logs, and when i have ran out of meth i can go back to the revo reccomended settings

You need to do it on the Road otherwise (as you can see from when i thought i had a problem with Stage 2+) you may not get true figures on the Dyno

From the reading up on the water meth kits a few of the guys in the USA have been able to run more timing with the kit, so the Revo SPS+ will allow you to switch between the programs to cater for this  :happy2:

If your interested in a Snow performance Stage 2 kit from BSH this might be the next group buy

Yes, with WM you should be able to up your timing to at least 8 on the sps when using 98 RON fuel. With 100 RON running @T9 shouldn't be a problem though you need to VCDS log everything.
If you have an uprated hpfp then it's possible to run B9 T9 F8/9 with a ko3.

If you run out of meths then it's not absolutely imperative to turn down the timing there and then but you have to feather the car till it's convenient to refill your meth.

Would i get more gains running it like this, or would it be worthwhile to just kep the Normal settings and run the meth kit ontop, and allow the ECU to adjust itself

You'll need to adjust your revo settings to gain the full benefit of WM.
If you leave the "normal" settings and assuming your car has minimal timing pull, you'll effectively be wasting the full potential the WM kit.

I'm running Stage 2+ Settings are B9 T4 F8

If i had a Water Meth kit and upped the timing to 9 i doubt it would make that much of a difference to it

I might see 290bhp if i'm lucky (already got 282)

I think its going to depend more on what boost settings your running to get any benefit tbh but then i don't know that much about it.

jabbasport believed an increase of 10bhp is easily acheivable without adapting the software to make the kost of it.

Looked into this a little as it would be a great addition to the VF RSR conversion. Some in the USA have sesors fitted that automatically detect when the kit runs out of W/M and automatically drops the remap timing to suit :happy2:

Just remind me why your timing is so low.

With the k03s, higher timing should see more power vs just upping the boost.

Just remind me why your timing is so low.

After various logging that was the setting that consistently produce the Best Boost and minimum timing pull

I could have T5 but i started to see timing pull of 5.3 on some cylinders over a broad rev range (2500rpm - 3700 iirc) which IMO and the guy who does the Tuning for me is too much.

When it starts to get colder i may be able to up the timing a bit

Fair enough but have you considered an upgraded IC to keep your IAT lower and hopefully allowing a higher timing.

IMO lowering your boost to 7 or 8 may provide you with enough leeway to up the timing a notch as you'll then need "less" IC cooling for the same air charge plus your now higher fueling will help with lowering your IATs.
