Like a few on here my DSG gearbox has progressively been getting worse over the last few months.
The symptoms where :-
- Lumpy changes in the lower gears (mainly from 1st to 2nd)
- Lurching at low speed crawling
- Issues with reverse initially not responding then taking off very quickly
These issues have all been caused by a faulty mechatronics unit (the gearbox ECU), according to my dealership this is becoming quiet common having replaced 6 others over the past month (across various VW cars not just Golfs).

After about a three week wait for the part mine was replaced today and I am very pleased to say it has fixed the problems and the car is now a smooth and responsive as it was to start with.
So a big thumbs up the Wayside Towcester for impeccable service on this

This is one job that I am very very glad was still under warranty as the part alone is in the region of £1100

plus the ECU lives inside the DSG box so requires an oil change as part of the job. Mine took around 5 hours work all in including the test drive.
So if your a DSG owner and get any of the symptoms above get them checked out before your warranty runs out as this will be progressively worse and isn't a cheap fix.
