Fuel gauge?
« on: August 22, 2013, 05:23:27 pm »
I have recently had to fit a replacement ecu and clocks after a major malfunction. Everything is working as it should after coding, adaption and basic settings apart from the fuel gauge. When i try to operate it via the vcds output it doesnt respond. Is it possible to remove the fuel gauge from my old clocks and fit to the unit currently in my car? It just looks like a matter of de-soldering and re-soldering onto the circuit board. Just thought i would ask before undertaking this task.

DONE! Just de-soldered the working unit off the back of my old cluster and re-fitted it to the new(used) clocks i fitted recently  :P

If anyone's thinking about taking their instrument cluster apart i would say go for it, it's not as difficult as it looks. Just be a bit careful as it can be fiddly and the needles can be very tight to remove. Try not to mark the foils or break any clips on the unit. Good job i had my old one to nick a couple of parts off  :signLOL:
