Swap 6cd in armrest for ipod connection
« on: August 26, 2009, 10:55:14 pm »
As per the title, is it possible to swap the 6cd changer in the armrest for an ipod connection of some description?

CD's are so "last year" now LOL!

Yes, you can swap the changer for an iPod insert, they're over £120 from the dealers but a fair bit less on eBay.

Is it just a cable or some sort of kit that I need?

Here are two I found by typing "VW iPod" into eBay.  Its literally plug and play with this one, you'll need the correct stereo removal keys (about £2 on eBay) and some sort of flat blade to help lever out the changer.  If you put your changer on eBay afterwards, it should be a free swap! (well it was for me with my glovebox kit!)

I hope that answers it for you  :happy2:

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I want to do the same and picked up the ipod dock on ebay for around £35. Does anyone know which keys I need to remove the changer

I have the ipod dock and found that the 2nd gen ipod touch works fine but doesn't charge unlike my older nano.  Apparantly Apple changed the pins used for charging the latest generation of ipods.

Also the armrest doesn't quite shut properly with a touch (and presumably with the iphone) but its nothing noticable - just don't lean too heavily on it!
