Boot lid release problem?
« on: September 02, 2013, 12:19:39 pm »
Since middle summer this year I have had a problem when trying to open the boot lid when engine is running, only will it open when I turn the engine off.

And sometimes it won't open when I unlock the car (press the remote unlock button twice).

Whats going on?

When the engine is running press the unlock button on your door twice and the boot should open.

Not sure about the other times but you could try fitting the boot pop mod so you can open the boot with the boot button on the key.

I tried that - pressing the door unlock button twice and to no avail.   Its like it has a mind of it own.

I wonder if the lock and the latch are not fully aligned? But this  seems to be an intermittent fault

Do you have access to VCDS?

You could activate the boot pop so that when pressing the button on your key it should unlatch the boot so that you can open it.

If that works then you will know its the handle at fault and not the lock itself

No I don't have access apart from going to either VW or specialist.

I can put up with it for the moment as I have a service in <600miles so, sill ask then.

Thanks for your help.
