Temporary hesitation on part throttle - any ideas?
« on: September 03, 2013, 09:17:08 am »
Hi guys, coming back through industrial estate last night, 5th gear, and as you touch the throttle there was some hesitation, something holding the car back. Is the second time have noticed it. Only way I could describe it is if you were running and someone was just tugging back you shirt and you felt some resistance before you were off again? No noises, no dash lights

Any ideas? Plugs? Coils? fuelling?

Thanks  :notworthy:

Could be anything (I've been experiencing this...but doesn't happen all the time!)

Boost leak?
Throttle body needs alignment done (via VCDs?)
Worst Case, intake manifold flaps?

Scan it.  But my bet is Throttle body.  Don't realign it unless you've taken it off and cleaned it.

cheers chaps  :happy2:

so if throttle body, could it be an early sign that it is on its way out? or re-alignment quite common?

First thing I would do is to check for boost leaks, then have it scanned if nothing obvious.

Do all the cheap things first.

If the throttle body is dieing it will eventually flag the old EPC warning light, then the TB is goosed its usually the potentiometers g187/188 inside rather than being gummed up, a scan will show this, you could try cleaning it with some carb cleaner and lint free cloth, replace and realign with VCDS, I tried this but it needed a replacement, the revision Q variants are the ones to go for.
