Wheels & Offset, have I ****** Up?
« on: September 02, 2013, 06:46:53 pm »
Evening all, Ive just purchased my new wheels & having just read a similar thread I'm concerned that I shouldnt have gone for the fitment I have.

I've gone for some deep dish alloys in staggered fitment as follows:

5x112
8.5J Fronts
9.5J Rears
ET 35
CB 72.6

Is the offset gonna cause me massive issues in terms of rubbing etc?

 :stupid:

Yeah at et35 with those widths you're gonna struggle imo...

Does anyone actually know the perfect offsets/widths for the mk5 without causing any arch problems and not needing to start playing with camber?

Could a engineering company not skim the rears which in theory would increase the offset?

Pull your archs

And then some more!

IIRC the standard 18" Monza's are 7.5" ET51. Quick check shows you'll have 44.4 mm poke over standard with those 9.5" ET35.

Me thinks a touch of camber.........

Me thinks a touch of camber.........

A touch? that sounds remotely positive

I have no idea at all how camber works, all I know is it looks pretty cool.

Anyone able to give me an idiots guide of whats needed?

Youll need a spanner and full alignment afterwards. Never done it, thought about it on my last Mk5 but never bought the wheels so never needed to tuck them under/in.

Have a read of this thread and also the thread linked within it......

And VW Manual on "How to" adjust it (which is obvious).

This is the little bugger.....
