Had something similar happen to us once.
We didn't let the car out of our sight for a few hours while sorting other things out and then moved it somewhere safe (friend's garage) while we sorted things with the insurance companies.
With hindsight, I probably wouldn't have bothered with using the insurance. The car locks weren't covered on the house insurance, so we called Churchill (our car insurer) who sorted it all out for us - BUT - the total cost was sub £500, so by the time we'd paid an excess it wasn't worth the subsequent rise in premium year on year for having a claim.
