another r tech map
« on: September 06, 2013, 10:51:55 am »
After having my GTi for 9 months i decided to go for a remap. R tech seemed to be the obvious choice due to the good feedback I've been hearing on numerous forums.

Unfortunately i turned up 40 mins late ( my brothers fault and again very very sorry  :ashamed:) but was greeted with a smile from the team. they still managed to fit me in and get a map done for me!

Surprisingly my rev c dv was totally intact after 69k but got that changed anyhow. There is also a garage that will change the cam follower a few units down. If anyone does go to r tech and you haven't replaced the cam follower the best thing would be bring the part with you. I had to come back  a couple of days later( through no ones fault just the usual of ordering parts and waiting time) and the garage fitted it for me so that was another piece of mind.

after some dyno runs they managed to pull the car at 251bhp and 318 lbs/ft of peak torque!!

went for a test drive and this might sound silly but i didn't feel to much of the extra punch of the higher figures although the car did feel smoother. This was probably down the fact i didn't know the road so was hesitant about flying into a wall or something else lol.

Didn't have a great drive home since I kept getting stuck behind a ridiculous driver each time I tried to stretch its legs.

Finally went out that night with a mate of mine on some of the dual carriageways when it was quiet.... and WOW :jumping: :jumping: :jumping: :jumping:

The car was totally transformed. It picked up speed ridiculously and the throwback into the seat was amazing. My mate was holding on for dear life getting goose bumps while I was getting caught behind on gear shifts since it ploughed through the rev range so quick. Even after that the car was still wanting more. The engine note seems to change more to a sharp growl at higher revs rather than a high pitched asthmatic. Only now did I know what a beast the car had become after giving it to the guys at r tech.

Fantastic job guys really appreciate the work you guys have done

Sounds great mate, Nick and the guys worked on my Mk4 so I am going to take my mk5 back there for sure.

Any other mods done? Panel filter, pre cat removed?

Si

£299 IIRC. It's mapped & tweaked on the dyno so no extra cost for that  :happy2:
NOW: 2015 Golf R DSG 5 Door, Lapiz Blue, 19s, Discover Nav, Reversing Camera
GONE:2007 Black GTI Edition 30 3dr

no mods at all just stock. Don't think my wife would allow me to spend any more money on the car for a while now . I'll just enjoy it for now definatly a step up from the mk4 golf 1.4l I had 9 months ago  :driver:

how much would I be looking at for a panel filter since from what ive read it just simply replaces your standard air filter? is it worth it after a remap?

290 seems very reasonable considering REVO etc charge around £500 usually??

Does R-Tech have anything similar to SPS so the map can be saved incase batt is disconnected etc..

Impressive torque figures. My old edition 30 REVO stage 1 with TBE was 327 lbs/ft

the map is not removed if the batt is disconnected if done by rtech.
