Freshly refurbed Monza II's in Anthracite on a CW - pic's included
« on: September 06, 2013, 10:52:57 am »
Hi everyone,
Yesterday i got my Monza II's back from the powder coaters and thought i'd share....

My wheels had been riddled with whiteworm for years, so finally decided to get them done, thought i'd go for a full powder coat in anthracite and was quite keen to see it against the CW, they needed a full refurb due to whiteworming and numerous kerb marks over the years, got them done at place in Aldridge for a very competitive price, cant really complain on the service or quality, took 2 days in and out

The centre caps where corroded aswell, so ive got some new ones arriving today hopefully and should finish them off nicely.

I loved the original finish of the Monza's but cant be doing with the possible return of the dreaded WW.

Anyways he's a few pics...

Look great mate  :happy2:

Colour works well against the CW, plus safe in the knowledge that will last better.

Anthracite is too dark for me so i got my painter to mix some reflex silver into it to lighten it up a bit

they look good. You should get some new wheel bolt covers as well, to freshen it all up. They are 29p each from tps or the stealers.

Be aware if your hub faces are coated and you track the car the powder coating can melt . I've done it at Goodwood (thread is on here somewhere) but if you don't track you'll be OK. The powder coaters I used also coated the tapered bolt seats which is a no no. But they look good!  :happy2:

Gone but not forgotten :-)

Regarding colour..yer i was a little apprehensive at first as there was no going back, and was weird to see them different from the diamond cut finish at first, but over the last couple of days they have grown on me  :happy2:

i managed to get a decent deal as we (my company) may be doing some work for him in the future, the removal of tyres and re fit of tyres, balancing etc, and obvs the refurb and powder coat was under £200 all in

yes ive been looking on Ebay for some bolt covers, the front drivers wheel bolt covers seem to have gone missing altogether, so could do with a full set

What to do when that diamond cut finish erodes eh? The anthracite looks really good on the CW  :happy2:

For my graphite blue I found it a little too dark so decided to put silver in the 'shadows'. I've only done 2 wheels so far, I'm giving it a week to make my mind up about the colours

I quite like the Monza's powdercoated, but nothing beats a proper diamond cut refurb!

I quite like the improvement on this set I did a while back  :happy2:
