Custom Remap with rolling road in Scotland?
« on: August 20, 2013, 01:20:36 pm »
As per the title really.  Looking for a custom remap for the Golf GT Tdi in Scotland.

I phoned Starr performance but they wanted £380 with no RR work

I'm trying to avoid a 10 hour round trip to R-Tech, even though it would still be cheaper than Starr!

Cheers

Star performance just do generic remaps, but usuay include a before/ after rolling road print out.

Dastek in Dalgety Bay is now called Performance HQ, they will do a custom map for you.

Unless your Tdi is heavily modded, just go with a £300 generic from Star? Ive used them before and been good.

I'm not paying £300 for a generic one, I can do a Celtic tuning one for £150 via email (worked ok on the CRV 2.2).

Has anyone used SOS motorsport, as they have offered the custom map and dyno runs for £300.

Do these companies actually offer "CUSTOM" maps or are they just flashing generic stuff, Alot of companies claim to be custom but aren't they usually sit there fiddling around with a dummy file on their laptop and then just flash a generic file and you think its custom

Also unless the TDI above has got hardware modifications i dont see the point in paying for a Custom map you aint really going to gain much from it, Generic off the shelf tunes are good for TDI's with no hardware modifications .. thats just my opinion anyway

So do you think I would be better just getting  blacksmoke remap for £45?

Get proven software something thats used by lots of forum members etc

On SCN there was a thread a while ago a guy asking about tuning his PD170, i previously owned a tuned PD170 so was advising him but he insisted his local tuning place came highly recommended by everybody local etc.. so he went and had it done cheap and then came back on forum moaning it wasnt running right etc
