trustworthy Garage / VW Specialist in the Preston area
« on: September 16, 2013, 01:54:41 am »
Hi,

Im close to the town centre, near the university.

In need of a recommendation for a trustworthy garage or VW Specialist in Preston area where i can visit tomorrow at some point to book my car in, Just had a battery warning light on the dashboard and want it sorting asap but if their busy hopefully i can just leave the car with them till its done.

Not to sure what the problem could be, maybe something with the alternator so rather leave it with a garage to get sorted to save having any trouble towing it etc if i leave it any longer.

yeh, as Joe says, GNJ are good. They are 15/20 miles from Preston in Great Harwood (towards Blackburn)!

Also.. what should i be expecting to pay to get this sorted in the worst case scenario, being that i need a new alternator? That the worst thing that i could need?

Just dropped it off at ICA.. Alternator wasn't charging so left it with him and may be done tomorrow.. No price quote though so I anyone can help me out with what sort of bill I should be expecting to pay tomorrow? Very much appreciated,

Does £150 sound about right or could it be cheaper or more than that?

Thanks.

If its a new alternator, £150 will cover parts. 3hours labour at let's say £45 so closer to £300.

You could have nipped to halfords on the docks and they would have tested battery and alternator for free.

Btw another recommendation for gnj here, 15mins down the m65. If its getting there and back you are struggling with they can be very accommodating.

I'm only down the road from you so give me a shout if you need any help.

Thanks for the help guys, appreciate it.. Just hope it doesn't cost too much as im in the process of selling it too so it couldn't of happened at a worser time really :/

When i turned up the fella said it needs a new alternator so i take it the alternator can't be reconditioned or anything like that or if there is any cheaper ways to fix it?
