I was after a part and he mailed me saying his mate had what i wanted.

he said i should give him my email address so his mate will email me.

I was a bit suspicious and asked for a contact number and never heard from the guy again.

Think you have deffo been taken for a ride unfortunately.

I'm sorry that you have been subject to this issue.

The same person responded to a wanted post i put up for 18" monza's. They didnt add to the post but instead communicated by pm. I unfortunately do not have the pm's anymore.

They said there were located in Liverpool and had a set they were refurbing currently in primer. If i remember i asked for photos of items and price, didnt hear much more.

Only advise i would give with any purchase sale:

- always ask to see pictures with forum name/date on a card in each. - perhaps this could be made a requirement for all sales
- only pay by paypal or sell via paypal, any genuine purchaser will be happy to pay fees
- never pay by BACS/Chaps bank transfer or paypal gift.
- If the member has not been registered for long check all there other posts, discuss with them about paying paypal etc.. delivery, collection..

I did this recently with regards to the wanted monza's post. Had a reply to the thread by 'Gaz' only been on forum for 3 weeks, but checked all his posts, build thread. Discussed openly that i wanted extra pictures, only to pay via paypal, due to these issues. Couldnt have been better, posted when he said, provided with courier collection details, tracking invoice.

All the best with trying to get it back, take it as a lesson learnt, but dont let it loose trust there are many genuine users on here.  :happy2:

It seems it's not the first time he's tried this sort of thing on with members on here then.
To think I was so close to catching a train up to collect.. Probably would've been left wandering Liverpool awaiting a reply. :ashamed:

I posted this this morning, but I hope he does see.. Although I doubt it'll do much good haha.

I know that most people in the 'scene' have good intentions, a lot of them are even generous enough to give away spare parts and such. :drinking:
but this minority of people who are out solely to rip off others are what ruins everything.
All I wanted was a slammed MK5 :signLOL:

If anyone else has been in contact with this guy about parts, any chance I could get screenshots of some PMs? Just as extra evidence to show that he's legitimately a robbing so-and-so. :signLOL:

The for sale section does it its rules adjusting, but also members need to exercise a modicum common sense. If someone with a low post count is trying to sell something or messages you about something that they are selling then you should proceed with extreme caution.

DONT pay with debit card, bank transfer, western union or PayPal gift

Its a real  shame when this happens, but we need to savvy when it comes to buying online in this way.

unfortunately if anyone does know this guy, i would assume such associates maybe of the same mentality.

My advise is, if your spending your hard earned cash then make the arrangments to meet up to close the deal, more so when your talking about any figure over 100 squids.

Some players on here are "Forum Favorites" and this sort of situation is slim, but you never know....

FFS!  Good find Rich... shame, doesn't look like you'll get much joy OP, but definitely report this to the Police, you may get something out of it.

How he hasn't had his head bent I don't know.

Oh dear, not that wa*ker.  :surprised:

Paul Woodward is a right tosser by all accounts.

Needs to be a lot more awareness on here and other forums about buying bits and bobs of complete strangers. Yes, it's a risk and trust Is needed but with some basic rules in place I'm sure most of this sort of stuff can be stopped.

Sorry to the OP. I doubt we will see him again.

He needs banning from here NOW.
