Ed30 stage 2 advice

Hi guys. New to the forum so asking a few questions. Currently have an Ed30 with a stage 1 map. Thinking of going for a stage 2 but exactly what supporting mods do I need ? I know I need to upgrade the exhaust system but to what ? Noticed most people go for the full turbo back. Would I get away with cat back ? Or down pipe and cat back ? Help would be appreciated ! Have you got a manual or DSG? A lot of people say your clutch will slip at stage 2.

You just really need a 200 cell downpipe rather than full exhaust as a minimum, have you upgraded the brakes?
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

It's a manual mate. Yeah it's got uprated drilled and grooved disks. Wouldn't mind feedback off someone who has a stage 2 manual see if they have any clutch issues.

Mine is stage 1 manual and had a new clutch/DMF just before I bought it a year ago, no issues with slippage.

I know that the DMF went and took the previous uprated clutch with it. I'd guess the standard response will be go for it, but prepare to budget for a clutch/DMF.
All maps are different too, so what one guy gets doesn't necessarily mean yours will be the same.

I know it is one thing holding me back from adding more power, as I can't be bothered with the possible of expense of another clutch.

As mentioned, Ideally you'll want a decent TBE with 200 cell cat. Up to you which one you go for, look at BCS, Milltek or Blueflame. I have the BCS Sports Powervalve 200 cell TBE and its immense off and on boost (but that's just me). Cost, £1k+

Add an intake system and bobs you mother brother, your ready for Stage 2. Check out REVO, EVOMS or ITG/VWR for a decent intake, from £300-£450. An intercooler and HPFP will be a benefit at any stage of tune, even stock will benefit from both but neither are really necessary at stage 2.

Look at checking or updating or changing (pre tune) your cam follower, Diverter Valve, PCV and Coilpacks.

Some peeps get slip on stage 1, some don't get any on stage 2+ So plan on needing it (whether you do or not is another thing). Its as much down to the way you drive as the clutch condition. Look at the linear maps on offer, less aggressive than some others. Clutches of choice are Sashs or Helix and generally if its for road use a new DMF is what your after. Budget about £1k+.

Think I may leave the stage 2 ! Thanks for the advice. It has uprated brembo brakes, the up issue DV valve and neuspeed p flow induction. I'm still after some mods to go with my stage 1 map. Thinking maybe a downpipe and catback exhaust ? Don't wana be paying a thousand for a TBE. What do you fellas think ? Is it worth it ?

A downpipe on top of what you have is basically stage 2, loads of guys still use OEM intakes at 2+.

You will need a remap tweak as a CEL will come on when factory downpipe is removed, some report clutch slip right away.

If you fancy it, go for it. I will have to sell mine fairly soon so keeping it as is performance wise, but if she's a keeper, go all out but budget for clutches, tyres etc.

Went to BCS today and booked in for a down pipe with sports cat. Can't wait to get it fitted ! Then ill see how it goes from there  :laugh:

Do you need intake to go to stage 2? I've heard conflicting things about going stage 2.

On top of downpipe and sports cat, i'm seeing that it's not neccessarily required, but some are saying it is needed, with some quoting 40bhp gains or something silly with an intake on stage 2.

Is an intake neccessary? Does it make a big difference power-wise?
