Winters
« on: September 10, 2013, 07:56:35 pm »
I've bought some cheap audi alloys and tyres to run as winters but they've come with 235/45/17 tyres on, the wheels are 17x7.5j I'm running daily low. Will I need to swap the tyres to something a bit skinnier so they don't rub.
Cheers sean

Fit them and see? All depends on offset also.

If not, wind your coilovers up over the winter. Simple.

I think the OEM fitment for a 17" is 225/45/17. Having a wider footprint for a winter will not help, are they specific winter tyres?

It depends very much on the ET of the wheel.
You're more likely going to catch on the inside on the coilover adjuster ring.

However around ET45-50 you should be fine.

235/45 may be fitted on some 7.5 rims by OEM however if they fit there's no need to worry.
