Does upgraded intake reduce lower end torque?

A few posters have said they prefer their original intake and have reverted back as the new intake was reducing lower end torque. How many of you have experienced this?

For those who have changed their intake- did you prefer your old one or new one?

Popular opinion seems to be yes, they do. But....it seems to be that intakes are of use higher up in the rev range, but may offer less benefit under normal driving circumstances. I'm ready to be corrected!
I'm about to have a Revo fitted along with all the other required hardware for stage 2 so I guess I'll find out soon enough. I have track days in mind for mine.

What I have read recently seems to indicate that there can be fuel delivery issues in as much that on some cars when stage 1 mapped the pump can't necessarily deliver what the ECU asks for, particularly in mid range. Changing the fuel pump deals with this and helps release some more power and probably smooths out delivery I would imagine. I think if I were to settle at stage 1 I might buy an uprated pump of one brand or another instead of an intake.

^^^^ Completely agree re intakes and HPFP. I believe an uprated HPFP will even benefit a stock car.

I'm having the new REVO CAI fitted next week as well before going Stage 2, it certainly looks the business.

I found it less torquey on the bum dyno with a CAI, but as said above doesn't breathe as well top end; for me personally I wanted the extra torque low down so switched back, if your tracking it regularly, then an intake will defo improve things, otherwise keep it standard. :happy2:

I suppose if your fitting one to a stock car then you'll notice it but most fit one coupled with a remap, so the result is more torque anyways.

stg1 with an intake is a lot more aggressive than without, especially on cold, winter days

So can you put an intake on when on a stage one without any other mods and it runs well? I thought you would have to put a downpipe on if you put on an intake?

as soon as I took my itg off the car was flat...turbo lag now does exist.
id disagree...100% felt stronger with the intake on
