Air intake help
« on: September 15, 2013, 05:30:21 pm »
Afternoon all, could someone please check their standard air intake fixing points for me please?
I am getting some vibration noise from mine on idle that's driving me mad!
I have tightened up the torx screws this morning to see if that helps but not sure whether the intake should slot into or on top of the front piece....

I would have thought aesthetically it should slot inside but mine is currently fixed outside as you can see from the pic.

Hope that makes sense!
Cheers

Its fixed in the correct place (on the outside).

You appear to be missing the top piece of the scoop section where the air comes in.

Have you checked the front piece is tightened up properly too, also I wouldn't count out the engine cover making the noise?  Check a rubber grommet thing hasn't split and tighten the mounts if req. :happy2:

Thanks gents! Don't worry about the top piece I had removed that to get a better view of the fixing, it's back on and seems to be ok now, ill see if it works loose again after the work commute in the morning.
Failing that I might try to pack some foam into where the plastics join.
It's deffo this piece as I've done the backwards walk with the bonnet up and my dad at the wheel. :happy2:
