Hi all,

I am coming to you desperate, my MK5 was new to me in June and ever since I have been chasing low fuel pressure. I hate to think it may be the cam, especially after inspecting it and visually it felt okay, with very light scoring.

I have replaced the following in this order:
In tank fuel pump
Fuel filter
Cam follower which was worn a lot but not all the way through
Fuel pressure sensor both on the rail and hpfp
High pressure fuel pump
Fuel rail pressure release valve

I am still getting the following codes, low power and low fuel pressure at wide open throttle after 3k rpm. Drops to about 60psi

System too lean at idle bank 1 - No signal/communication P2187
Fuel rail/system pressure too low - lower limit not reached P0087

I am at a loss and not willing to accept it is the cam yet, please help me😂

Could there be any other possible solution? No smells of petrol indicating injectors leaking or anything

This doesn't necessarily mean you are having fuel issues. It could be that you're getting too much air in the system and it's overpowering the fuel. I would start with a smoke test for any vacuum leaks
