Mk6 1.4 TSI Vs Fiesta ST150
« on: September 18, 2013, 04:00:44 pm »
Hi everyone, I don't use this forum much but respect the knowledge/opinions of people on here greatly, hence why I am posting here.

Basically (as im sure 90% of you guys do too) I'm debating as to what car I should have next. I am pretty set on a  Mk6 Fiesta ST150, but now have had the though of a Mk6 golf 1.4 TSI 160ps.

Just wanting some general opinions on the Mk6 1.4 TSI, how the engine feels, is it exciting/boring to drive, how much power can be gained from a re-map, what can be modified beyond a remap (Stage 2+ etc), and how the car feels in general. I know the ST150 is not the fastest car in the world, but I feel the fiesta would be a fun little car and im worried the Mk6 1.4 TSI could be boring in comparison!!

Any opinions/comments welcomed!

Thanks

I recently tried a Fiesta ST2 as a possible replacement for my Edition 30. I have to say as nice as it was, the cabin wasn't as nice a place to be as my 6 year old Edition 30. You're going to get a strong bias towards a VW on here, and rightly so it's the better one to have

I can't comment on the 1.4 TSI engine but my advice would be to try one and go from there

I swapped my Octy VRS Stage 2+ for a Focus Titanium 1.6 Ecoboost. It seemed strange going from Skoda and a VAG interior to the Ford but I now prefer the Ford interior to my Octys. I would take both for a drive and see what you think. Tuning wise the TSI will always tune that bit easier and cheaper, as it is force inducted rather than NA for the Fiesta. But if you are buying to modify, why not spend the extra money you would spend modifying and buy a car that has the power/handling as standard.
The 1.4 TSI does not tune well for big power as JannerSY found out when tuning his Fabia VRS. A simple remap should see closer to 200bhp.
Frozen White Ford Focus 1.6 Ecoboost Titanium.

The 1.4 TSI is TROUBLE

So many known failures in even stock cars, with high oil consumption being the most common problem. The higher output models (160 & 180ps) being the worst culprits.

The mk7 golf uses a better engine which is more reliable  :happy2:

Pretty sure this thread will be moved to Random Chat also
