'The' Arch Liner Screw Mod

Guys,

Does the front wheel arch liner screw mod work exactly the same for other VW vehicles, in this case specifically the 8P Audi A3?

I'm on AP coilovers with 18x8 wheels and have just started to experience catching when turning at low speed on full lock.
What exactly do I need to do after I've removed the screw? In n00b mode I'm afraid

Just feel around the outside edge of the arch liner, if there's one screw towards the top of the arch which is particularly obtrusive, take it out. Then you'll have to stop the arch liner sagging down. To do this, just push the arch liner up above the metal inside lip of the wing, and go for a drive

Does this mod on mine mate.

About centre of the arch is a torq screw holding the arch liner in place. Unscrew this, take out the plastic nut thing behind it the screw goes into. Then making sure the arch liner is above it, push the lip up. It sticks out further than the rest of the arch so helps a bit.

Job done.

approx 4 months mine lasted before they rusted...

The screw mod shouldn't really cause the wing to rust
The rusting starts with the stupid sponge on the inside of the wing that holds water in

Leaving the arch liner where it is will cause more rust as the dirt and salt water sticks there so pushing the liner up will prevent the rust more than make it rust. I fit car up day in day out and have had some filth fall out of the liners.

when i did the arch liner to do the screw mod/remove the sponge i ended up with a pile of dirt and leaves and a big sponge completely soaked with water and my wings were already rusted on the inside

if you want to see a rusty wing i can show mine but its because i rolled mine with a hammer and my tyre rubbing against it from being low

Finally after nearly 5 years iv got new wider wings from srstec to go on next week so no more rust

removed the sponges from mine and a year later I'm back where I started.... rusty

I have two freshly painted wings on without the sponges so let's see how long it lasts without rusting.
