BMW advice...

Looking for some advice... could have a potential non-starting BMW 55 plate which the local BMW dealer has diagnosed as requiring a new engine, if this is the case I dont see the point in buying a engine so what would be the best way to maximise the amount of money you could get for it in a non-starting state? All suggestions welcome...

Sell it as requiring an engine, strip and sell parts, EBay as is or drop a nice m3 engine in it and enjoy it

Thanks for the reply
Not sure I trust what the dealers say. I know there are a few BMW enthusiasts on this site so hopefully they will see this post and have some advice. Alternatively if anyone can recommend a BMW independent garage in the Millton Keynes area that would be helpful.

You say it won't start , that is like saying " Its got something wrong with , how do i mend it" !
It is very unlikely that it needs a NEW Engine , be a bit more descriptive about what is wrong with the car and what engine it is

I dont have the full details of the fault as its not my car, but im not looking for advice on specifically how to fix it, im looking for advice of an BMW independent in the MK area or the best way to get the most money for it assuming it does require a new engine. Like you say even if I did have the information of exactly what was happening its very unlikely that someone could tell me what could be wrong without having access to run diagnostics on the vehicle...

Is it a timing chain or engine misalignment that's caused the failure?
Need more info, a professional garage won't have been this vague 'It requires a new engine because x has happened as proven by our diagnostic assessment'.
