I'd like to think everyone knows that.
After all it is in the handbook.

However like I said try getting the VW dealership to honour it.

Oh yeah, everyone knows each and every page from their handbook. :rolleye:

.

It's not just poor service from VW, this is part of their conditions of sale which they are blatantly swinging around on and sticking two fingers up at the consumer.

I can stomach replacing worn out parts but rust, ffs, come on this is 2013 not 1973.

The arch problem has been around since the Mk3 - It's not just the arches either is it; Sills, Boot, Boot badge, Wheel badges, Wheels...  Sigh, why is this a premium brand again?  Oh yeah, the price.

Hi guys i work in a car bodyshop and we get Mk5 golfs in all the time. The reason for the wings rusting is VW think its a good idea to stick Foam inside of the wings. WATER then gets trapped inside the wings and rusts the wings inside out. The repair procedure is to get 2 new wings remove rusty ones Paint and clear inside and out of the new wings. Fit back onto the car WITHOUT the foam they will never rust again. I do jobs on the side and My prices are fairly cheap compair to a bodyshop. Im fully qualified and for members of this forum would replace + PAINT NEW wings and fit for £200 total

Thanks for all your replies folks, appreciate your input.

Brad, your site and offer looks great but I think you're up in Scotland and I'm down in Brighton, so the economics on a vPower unleaded return trip don't stack up unfortunately. Interesting on the sponge, sounds crazy!

A friend of mine suggested I do some breakers searches and see if I can find some other Red wings which seemed like a good suggestion - especially if I can find some that are a similar age, but not rusting...!

I have gone via the official route to date and am meeting resistance from VW.

Still at least my Revo Stage one and new Michelin PS3s are making me smile ;0)

I just removed the sponge from my car the other day, which was still present after a new wing fitted after a claim.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Some bodyshops trim the "sponge". So it's not in contact with the lip anymore.
