Who knows about screws....
« on: September 26, 2013, 03:14:28 am »
Im looking to buy an item off ebay, but its missing some parts, the description says:

"THIS ITEM IS MISSING 2 X BRAKE SCREWS M6*P1.0*L6MM AND 1 X M4*P0.7*L12mm SCREW"

This means nothing to me  :grin: It bares no relation to the new haswell chipset or 802.11 ac WiFi so im out of ideas.

Who can tell me what the hell i need to buy....and even for bonus internet points...where.

Thanks!

M -  screw thread diameter, 6 mm on this, L - length in mm, P - distance between  gaps of screw thread
.
A=M, Length = L. So small screws needed, you can ignore P. You need M6 L6 and M4 L12. This rivet is M6 L6  ( for size imagination )

M4 L12

and M6 L8 would fit fine for M6 L6, but first you must know what type of screw head you need. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M6-6mm-A2-COUNTERSUNK-CSK-SOCKET-CAP-ALLEN-BOLT-SCREWS-STAINLESS-STEEL-FWS-/190726150647?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Nails_Fixing_MJ&var=&hash=item2c682a19f7

The P part is the thread pitch. 1.0 mm and 0.7 mm are the standard pitches for M6 and M4. So they're not specials.
