How to remove drop links?
« on: September 27, 2013, 03:22:09 pm »
Had some coilovers fitted recently, and am trying to remove them for a bit of tidying..
How do the drop links unbolt from the suspension?
I've read that it just unbolts with a 19mm ratchet, but I'm sure the bolt keeps spinning..
Does the thread/bolt need to be held while I turn the nut?

thanks! :popcornsoda:

You need a spline bit to put in the centre of the bolt to stop it rotating. M8 maybe

You can hold the head with some mole grips but it's properly pikey.
You need a multispline tool I think it's an M12 for some reason.
Or a 12 spline thingy .

Just went to Halfords and B&Q, all they had between both shops was a £35 set of four multispline sockets.. :stupid:
I'm thinking the ghetto method is next.

Unless I could get a torx socket to fit well enough in there?

I think I used a T50 torx in the past (or 60 can't remember) but again that's a pikey method lol and you risk rounding the bolt off. Then you're screwed if you ever need to change susp or can't get it tight!!
