I just picked up a July 2005 registered MK5 GTI. Spec includes;
DSG Gearbox
Full leather heated seats
Dual zone climate control
Sat Nav
Sunroof
Electronic lumbar controls
Auto headlights
Auto wipers
Auto dimming rear view mirror
Folding door mirrors (maybe its standard, but hey I'm on a roll here
)
Rear parking sensors
37,200 miles on the clock
I paid £6750, but it needs maintenance soon as in a major service, cambelt, coolant, brake fluid and the DSG box service at 40K.
Its quite an upgrade from the MK4 I had for seven years.
Its a lovely drive with seamless gear changes. Much better than my old BMW Auto from 2001.
I was sure to check there was no jerkiness when setting off, pointing to the dreaded mechatronic failure.
Only damn thing I've found is that the plastic frame for the gaiter is snapped on one side, so the gaiter is not fixed into the aluminium surround. I don't think you can buy the frame on its own and the whole stick and surround is quite expensive I hear.
This frame is really thin, I can see that it stays in place due to the tension built into it. Funny how with such low mileage the past owners have broken it
