Mercedes ML detailed
« on: September 29, 2013, 11:05:00 pm »
Hi all i'm a hobbying detailing based in Essex.  Work in a office so its nice to get out in the garage and tinker with cars at the weekend, not very good with mechanics but enjoy making the paintwork look its best.  My golf R32 has had alot of time spent on the paintwork and a few forum members wanted there cars done, then neighbours and now its friends of friends......

The owner of this car (a dad of a forum member) had drove past a bush and scratched pretty much the length of the passenger side of the car, it was pretty bad tbh but confident with some patience it would come out.  I started this on thursday and tbh the paint was hard like i have never come across before, extremely hard in fact that the one side took over 5 hours to correct and refine down.  The paintwork all over wasnt in the best condition being full of swirls and scratches, did i say how hard the paint was....  all in from washing then claying the car its had about 18 hours out of me!!!! lovely cars and all turned out good in the end, paint has a lovely silver sparkle that now really pops in the sun.   Wheels clean, windows cleaned,  door pillars machined, exhaust tips polished and the metal on the rear valance also polished.  Plastic trim treated.

here comes the pictures, i've tried to cut them down a bit.... lol

hi,  i think i was far to cheap on this one for the state of the car and the hours i put into it.  But for this I charged £350.00, a pro would have probably charged 2-3 times aswell.  I have a Jag S type that someone has vandilised and thats going to be about the same money.   All good lessons for me and as i work in the office its nice to get out in the garage at the weekend.

If your local i can probably work with you and do something.

Get the CG pads as the megs pads can split.
I am expirimenting with MF pads and normal compounds, as on my paint the Megs MF system did not remove all the swirls, my paint on my roof was probably as hard as the merecedes!
Hard paint is great for swirl and scratch resistance but a git to polish up.

hi mate yes i am, sorry if i didnt reply i thought i replied to everyone that had sent me a message so apologies for that.
I'm not sure if i can mention my website on here as it would be classed as advertising I know on the OC thats ok but not sure on this forum.  I had to set another user name up as my old one i couldnt remember the email address i had used!! so perhaps PM's will open up when i post a bit.  But yeah by all means contact me through there again, the website and contact numbers are on there aswell.

thanks
rob

I do have a couple of CG pads, so will try those aswell.  Ive got a bentley and SL55 to do shortly for fellow members so I ordered up the Meguiars MF pads to try and see if i get on with them.  i was happy with the lake country pads and for some reason i really get on well witht he sonus pas.
