Full Oettinger Exhaust System - Advice please
« on: September 03, 2009, 09:25:51 pm »
Hi Chaps,

I need your help on this,

I've agreed to pay £500 for the full exhaust system here. ( not the rear quad silencer )

Its Oettinger, a good quality kit. Having spoken with the chap, he said it was too loud for him... now, i dont want it to be too loud for me...

I want a really nice loud sound when accelerating, but i dont want the low boom chavvy sound, if you know what i mean :stupid:

Please give me your honest thoughts on this... is this the right exhaust system for me ?

Personally, i would go for either the blueflame or milltek. Its cheap for a reason, if it was a good setup, then alot more would of been 1st choice on GTi owners wish list.

Thats why im not buying the Quad Silencer... going to save up and by the Oettinger Twin Exhaust...

Oettinger is a good exhaust system. So i'm happy to pay the £500...

All i'm worried it will be a tad too loud when just moving along... do you think so ?

If it's too loud for the previous owner then the likely hood is it will be too loud for you.

Hmm ok chaps, gnna retract my offer

I'm just gonna go for the backbox... the sound was nice enough on my first Golf 1.4 75bhp with the Oettinger Backbox... :innocent:

The Miltek Backbox isnt very loud on its own...

Hope i'm doing the right thing.

that's a load of crap right there. Just because Milltek or Blueflame are big players on British market does not mean that Oettinger is no good.

I have full Oettinger exhaust. It is just fine. It is not TOO loud, in fact I wish it produced a little bit more noise. But as it is - it sounds just fine. When just moving along, especially when off the gas pedal letting it slow down toward 20-40 mph it is "deep-voiced", very sweet.
