Precautionary Maintainence - Advise please
« on: September 28, 2013, 04:41:04 pm »
Afternoon guys n gals.

Gracie is ticking over to 70k. while there will be no mods purchased over the winter, i'm looking into clutches.

Now, i have a stage 2 remapped DSG car, so i would suggest near to 300 ponies. I'm not driving like the stig, but i cannot find anything in the docs i have that shows a replacement clutch/flywheel.

I have no experience with a DMF car before. The local independant is charging nearly £900 for OE clutch, fitting, flywheel and the dealer is charging £940.

I am struggling to find prices for parts to know if this all sounds a fair price. Aside of this there are aftermarket parts i'm sure.

With a DSG car can i convert to a SMF - if so worth doing and cost?
Best aftermarket DMF/SMF combo's to go for that you have used/got/experience of.

Thanks in advance.

Your cars a DSG so no need whatsoever to do anything other than get the DSG box mapped.  :happy2:

Did you not get the DSG mapped at the same time? Who's map do you have? Most top tuners will map the DSG too to accommodate all those new ponies.

For example, from REVO's website....

I'm stage 1 DSG map as only stage 2 engine. I've not really given her any major grief (as in used launch control) but you think no wear to any of the clutches?

I understand that the boxes are ran on much, much higher stressing vehicles, but you reckon leave as is?

The dsg is a very very strong gearbox my friend keep fluids and filter changed regularly and it would be perfect the clutch packs don't start to slip until around 450 ftlb I believe that vwr have tested maybe more I can't remember but u les your big turbo you won't be pushing that
