I had the AC serviced back in May on my wife's car and the gas was topped up and a new filter was fitted. Fast forward three months and I jumped in the car and set it to the coldest setting and it was coming out warm.
I've had it checked today for leaks and surprise surprise the condenser is leaking. The VW specialist I used gave me a reasonable labour charge for the work based on approx 2.5 hrs and they were happy to recommend none VW parts. They said the parts they recommend are stamped exactly the same but don't arrive in a VW box.
I called VW for an idea on their pricing and they've come back with over 5 hrs labour - costing £600. On top of that part number 1K0820411Q is priced at £290.40. So all in I'd be looking at the best part of £900 with VW!

We both really like the car, but I am quickly remembering why I am so fond of Japanese cars. I've spent more in six months servicing this car than I did in quite a few years with my previous Civic Type-R. A lot of that is down to the cam belt and water pump that wasn't required due to the K20 Honda engine being chain driven.
