Edition 30 to Audi S3 Stronic Sportback
« on: October 05, 2013, 10:07:00 pm »
Hi all - been ages since I've been on, but haven't been driving the last 2 years as been on the train to London!
Anyway, I'm looking to change the Edition 30 after 6 years of happy motoring.
I need your help in identifying which performance parts from the list below I can transfer over to an S3 8P Stronic Sportback.
Also in 2 minds whether I should sell it as is, or strip the parts and restore the car to normal?
Here's a link to my build thread: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,10137.0.html

Full milltek turbo back exhaust with VWR back box
AP Coilovers
Walk kit
Forge Twintake
Autotech HPFP
Eibach front and rear ARBs
Forge twintercooler
Kenwood DNX 521 BT head unit
19" BBS CH ET50 with 225/35/19 tyres

Also, any feedback from those who have made the same switch - I loved the Stronic and the audi just felt quality!
Thanks in advance!

You can use the following on an S3..

WALK
Twin take
Autotech internals
ARB's - (The front definately, the rear might be different?)
BBS CH's

You can possibly use the Twintercooler but insure if it fits on an S3, I think it might!

I think you're best stripping your car and putting it to standard, that way you get any mods for your S3, sell the rest and still get good money for a standard ED30.

Easy to sell a Standard Edition 30

Sounds your buying a new one , Why not an RS3 about a year old ?

I can't see that you will see much benefit from your large outlay of cash over the ED30 , this is my dilemma too  :innocent:

An S3 8P is not the new S3 now. Good deals can be had from the dealers for the 8P models though.

The issue I have with the S3 is the last gen satnav RNS-E.

Wouldn't a late model golf R be a better bet Skavia?

Realistically I'd sell all those modifications on except the alloys and Autotech HPFP.

Getting the front ARB off will cost you more than it is worth if you are getting someone to do it for you.
The WALK is better left on and replaced on the S3/R with a SALK ( Superpro ALK) as they give better camber and as a result better cornering.
The Twintercooler is known for giving high long term fuel trims and isn't the best intake for any K04. ITG, EVOMS, REVO intakes are much better.

 :happy2:
Golf R gone.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Yes, ideally I'd like to sell as-is to save the pain of stripping the parts off, but only if I can get what the car's worth.
Generally people don't like modified cars unless they're enthusiasts.
I test drove the new S3 and it was so boring! Very quiet inside and no real oomph - just a smooth power delivery.
I like the face lift cars (2008-2012) and I'd have to go Stage 2+ with that too!
Hurdy - I've looked at the Golf R but, as they're newer than an S3 they are a lot more for a 5 door with leather and DSG.
I've set my budget around the 20k mark.
