Portsmouth - what to do and see
« on: October 06, 2013, 02:13:01 pm »
So I'm in Portsmouth for 4 weeks for work. My hotel is right in the middle of town. Anyone local recommend anything to do/see? And anywhere for food/going out? The golf will make an appearance at some point as it seems the there's quite a presence of vw/Audi etc cars. Already had a chat with a guy with a really clean black Fabia vrs.

Just boreddddd! I already been to the tall white building. No idea what it's called :p

Nothing. It was and probably still is a dive. Soton was a bit better. But only marginally.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

:D I would, but money is being spent right now on a few things whilst I'm away!!

Anyway, so there is nothing worth doing in Portsmouth. Excellent! I'll have a walk round, that'll be fun :p
My view is epic:

I live about 10 miles from portsmouth and it is a sh*thole , you can go to gunwarf quays and up the spinnaker tower , southsea is 2 mins down the road they have the beach/ arcades.
gunwarf is actually really nice in the evenings , jamie olivers italian restaurant is there.

Not sure about the one in Portsmouth but the Jamie Oliver's in Brum is overrated.

My advice. Don't take your Golf, if you do make sure it's hidden away. If you have an RNS, take it out.

Thank you :( think I'll pass and take the work car (it was only for the rather good fuel expenses that I considered taking my car down!! :innocent:)

The hotel. Story of my life. I was booked into a very nice one (our travel policy is very flexible!) about 5 miles outside of Portsmouth. My colleague who I was with who has the vehicle atm, decided he couldn't be bothered with the drive in (yes , all of 10 mins). He cancelled his booking and left me in limbo. The only place free on Thursday afternoon was the Ibis and that is where I am for the week. The tower block is deffo not my hotel Jay :p just the view from the room.

Might see if I can get into the gunwharf quays holiday inn, look nice from where I'm sitting

Thank you all. I'm in Gunwharf quays awaiting mate of mine then grabbing food. Looks like ill tick everything off in one evening!

Neil we'll try it this evening. Might aswell make the most of it. As you say at night, it is pretty nice, in fact very nice:

Loll! The quality of driving also is interesting, as is the 40mph average speed section and the fact we got lost very easily! Oppps!
