Gti & ed30 values on the up ?
« on: October 06, 2013, 08:16:15 pm »
Just had a quick scan of fleebay , autotrader , pheads

I bought two ed30's in the last 3 months from main dealers (non vw) but it seems as though it would cost me more cash now to buy one than what i paid 3 months ago.

Or are people just being greedy ?

I would agree, price seems to have changed slightly over the last few months.

I've spent a while looking before I bought mine and there is a very large difference in prices. To get a properly spec'd good one though you're still looking at strong money regardless. I bought mine from VW at bottom price and it was definitely worth it.

Plus if prices are going up for the special editions then that's only a good thing! (for us who own them already. )

Unless he has a Golf R with DSG ,the Sales manager knows I'm not interested

But bang for buck, their simply IMO isn't anything that I'm interested in.

Probably got something to do with the  ridiculously high price of a well specified Mk7 and the fact that the Mk5 was the best GTI in a number of years.  :pomppomp:

Gone but not forgotten :-)

Can't see Edition 30's going up at all, it's not going to happen.
A mint high spec low miles one will not drop as fast but will drop
over the next few years till they bottom out,
then they will go up as they will be hard to find just like the mk4 Anni's  :happy2:

As for the Mk5 GTI  it will just end up like the mk4 gti worth nothing, all be it a better car.

I will be holding onto mine  :happy2:

I think it's more the fact that owners are being more optimistic of the cars value.

We just bought our 05 plate gti, a 5dr with 62k on, dsg, leather, rns2, sunroof, xenons, lux pack 1 and full history for under £6.5k - from stratstones with warranty.

It took us ages to find a car that was realistically priced and with a good spec, but when you look at the trade value in glasses guide the values are quite low.

ED30s appeal to those in the know (ie understand what is under the bonnet) who want a 5dr with a K04 as the only other premium option is a s3 sportback which only started more recently and are much more expensive. For that reason they'll be always more expensive.

It's all supply and demand led.

Nothing to do with Top Gear rating it No.2 in the last 20 years , only beaten by a Bugatti Veyron . Where else can you get a QUALITY car at £12000 + with 350bhp (After a few simple mods) and great street cred ?
