Can anyone tell me what this cradle is for please?

Hello

New member, first post - apologies if its in the wrong section or a sill question

I have recently bought a 2008 Mk5 GTI DSG in White, leather, sat nav and sunroof; to replace my 57 plate black one (after an idiot in a stolen focus lost control and hit me head on writing it off - gutted is not the word).  On the plus side - very happy with the replacement!
Anyway, the car has (I think) an RNS510 head unit and what looks like a phone cradle on the glove box (picture attached).  I had aa chat with someone who suggested this may be a cradle for a Bury bluetooth interface but I am struggling to find out more.  Can any of you tell me what this (pictured) is please? 

If it is for a Bury, would anyone be able to tell me which Bury unit it is for please?  and (even better) any tips on where I might get one at a good price?  I am hoping all I need is to buy the unit and plug it in (hopefully saving me on any fitting costs) but I suppose it would be wise to test this before buying one - any suggestions on how I could go about this?  I am in Plymouth btw

Looks like a Bury Take&Talk 8 or 9, follow the leads from it they'll go into a control box, on which will be a sticker saying what system it is.

Might be behind the stereo or the glovebox.

sorry for the stupid question, but does that mean I need to take the stereo out to see the box with the sticker?  do I need a special tool for that?  thanks for your help

I don't know where they have put the control box, you'll have to trace the leads. I was just suggesting two likely places, sorry.
Otherwise is there a part number on the cradle rear?

thanks for the replies.  what I mean is I cant see any visible leads - so I assume I will have to dismantle the glove box / stereo to find them.  Just wondered if there were any tips for doing so?

I have had a system 8 before and this looks a bit different, I think this is a system 9. Try Googling for pictures of that to compare it, that way you don't have to dismantle anything.

Update...

I spoke with a bury retailer today who said he thought it would be a system 8 and he said very few system 9s were used in the uk (dozens at most!).  He did suggest it would normally be branded bury, which mine isn't but the unit looks like it has the right connection for a bury take and talk ad9060.  They offer a refund if it isn't correct so I may bite the bullet, order one and try it out

Best price I can find (new) is £115 - does that sounds about right?

He also suggested I check and see if there is already a microphone.  I understand this is normally up in the interior light cluster (near the glasses holder) but nothing immediately visible; are they normally located inside this? Or would you normally expect to see it?
