Recall Campaign 28F5 - Ignition Coil
« on: October 08, 2013, 05:08:03 pm »
Hi, just wanted to inform everyone that there is a recall for mk5's to check and replace ignition coils.

I have just taken mine to the local service centre and had 3coil packs replaced while I waited along with a free health check. 45min-1hr tops.

I did a search and couldn't find anything already posted so sorry if this is common knowledge!!

Cheers :driver:

Must be a brand new recall then, I rang my local garage last week before ordering coil packs and was told there was no action listed against my car for coil packs

It doesn't affect all cars, just certain ones. It's not so much a recall, just that if your car's in the dealers then they'll check it (or phone up with your reg). :happy2:

Found this from another forum:

If you have a 2.0FSI engine and your coil part number is:
06F 905 115 F
07K 905 715 D/E
06H 905 115
06D 905 115 K
06E 905 115 D/E
06H 905 115
Then your car is OK and does not need anything. If it does NOT have one of those coils, then you need the newer coil.

Quite a few people have had this done already. There was lots on here about it.

Not a recall but campaign as recalls tend to be safety related and end up with VOSA involved.

Sorry if its a dumb question but where is the part number on the coil? Is it easily visible by taking the engine cover off?
My car was in VWs last week, and while there had a free 'health check'. Nothing mentioned but would they check ......?
