What BIG Brake Kits are available for Mk5GTI?
« on: October 10, 2013, 01:42:36 am »
Can we start a list of some of the Big Brake Kits that are available for our cars?

I for one didn't do much research recently when I bought a TTRS kit. I would really like to find a good set of brakes for fast road and the odd track day that won't involve me using loads of different sets if spacers and wheel bolts.

I know of a few kits, but if anyone with any technical info/prices/links etc can add a reply, then ill copy and paste it to this first post.

S3/R32/Leon 345mm kit
NQSBBK
VWR kit
TTRS 4pot 370mm kit
AKS 370mm kit
AP Racing 4pot 330mm kit
Tarox 10pot kit
Alcon kit
RS4 B5 360mm kit
Porsche Cayenne 18Z kit
Porsche 996 4pot 350mm kit

So any more kits?

Any info on the kits above?

Any links/pics/rough prices?

I don't know if this thread will work and be of any help. Hopefully it will be a good un.

What's wrong with TTRS calipers? I'm looking to get rid of my R32's and get some on my car..

happy to throw some pros/cons on each when this thread comes of age, some Format and the first post being the key post.

I can add available compounds, piston sizes, typical fail modes on calipers etc etc, things to look out for, RRP prices for the pads.

B5 RS4 kit. It used to stop me dead if you even brushed passed the pedal, thinking back it was probably to much braking for my 270BHP but probably about right for all you BHP whores.  :signLOL:
it comes with a few slight problems to work around but it can definitely be described as a big brake kit.

Cayenne 18z 6 pots, I'm running a 8" front wheel et45 and they fit with a 3mm spacer.

The single piston r32/cupra setup is a bit of a joke with the weight isn't it.
