Thinking of getting some road legal track tyres wondered if anyone had any feedback on the above ?

For primarely use on the road Ad08, i have both and this is my recommendation  :happy2:

I'd seriously recommend Federal RSR's, cheap and work very well!

I've had Federals in the past and they are a great tyre. Less noise than R888' on the road too.

I'm not quite sure how the Federals came into the equation as the question is between R888 and AD08?

Just advising him about other options and tyres available, isn't that what this place is about? People giving their views and recommendations to other fellow car noobs.

Also worth pointing out Federals are cheap too, there under £130 a tyre in 225/40/18 where as 888's are £200 a tyre! That's quite a lot more.

Fair enough, my point being they were the ones the tread starter had chosen and wanted input to.
Of course others can be mentioned but that's not what were asked for  :wink:

AD08s are not that far off R888s in terms of grip, they're better in the wet and come with more tread so last a bit longer.

I think a semislick is not ok for road use (except going to and coming from the track). You need to warm the tires before they grip and that's not the case on the public roads.
So, if someone is looking for daily drive tires and occasional track use I would say ad08. For track days only, R888.

Fast road: high performance tires (Continental Sport Contact 5, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, etc)
Fast road + occasional track days: high performance tires + extreme performance tires (Yokohama ad08, Federal RSR 595, etc)
Track days (+ going to and from the track): semislicks (R888, Federal FZ 201, etc)

I was thinking about Federal 595 RSR for my car, mainly for everyday use and occasional track days (hopefully this year) but they dont do them in 235/35/R19
