Who has driven a 100% electric car

I got a Nissan leaf as a curtesy car.

Driven it for a week I'm quite impressed with the technology (not the car)

The car hid the weight quite well except when it came to slowing down! Looks pants and had cream interior.

Technology was good though, Bluetooth,nav space age dash.

The electric motor surprised me on the power front! Nothing "slow" about them. I got about 70miles to a full charge (100claimed) but I did a variety of roads/motorway.

Haven't been put of buying an electric car.

Electric cars are not the answer and they never will be.
Why? they are a step backward.
We can drive wherever we want. Fill up which takes 5 minutes and carry on.
With electric cars you can do maybe up to 150 miles (in a Tesla if you drive like a granny) and then you have a 6-24 hour charge period.
Where does electricity come from? Where can they be charged, for on street parkers, going to be cables trailing across the pavements? Vandals and idiots would only unplug them..

They are a short term solution to a long term problem. It has already been proven that in the life of the car a Prius does more environmental damage than a Range Rover

Hydrogen fuel cells are the ONLY long term, viable solution. I hate electric cars and the people that champion them.

I don't really love or hate the idea of EV's, but they most definitely will become the new standard, there are simply too many big motor manufacturers (Ford/GM/VAG/BMW etc.) onboard now, for Full EV's not to become the future, like it or not.

Batteries are becoming more and more dense every generation, 300 miles is possible albeit expensive ATM, as we know tech. moves on fast.  You can get 80% charge in 30 mins,; even quicker with the high power charging points.   The new eGolf destined for 2014/15 has a range of around 120 miles, for most people that is more than enough for their daily commute. 

Just think of how crude internal combustion is, and how many moving parts can and do go wrong... sooo much simplier with an EV - A LOT less maintenance.

Don't get me wrong, love engines, and it isn't going to happen over night... but I think Jay Leno got it right when he said that the future is EV for everyday commuting and a glorious V8 for the weekend - mind you he's got a few cars to play with.

The battery technology is the main problem.

Industrial AC Motors can convert 85% + of the energy they use into work when IC engine is said to be around 30-35%.
