Its when someone cites there information, So they might make a post about a certain topic then at the bottom backlink to there sources of information for further reference.

The term is usually used in search engine optimisation more backlinks indicate popularity and thus higher page rank on the search engine.

Either this or you mean some completely different?  :laugh:
