Boost leak
« on: April 16, 2013, 08:56:24 pm »
Hi all since fitting my new DV I can hear this high pitched squeal on full boost so I made a boost leak tester. Anyway I tried it today pressurised the system to 15psi I had two leaks the first one was from the vac pump  :stupid: there's a black fitting with a push fit pipe? well there's loads of oil coming out of the actual connection on the vac pump no the actual pipe. the fitting seems to have 2mm play is this normal? what's the fix?

I have a similar problem to this in which the pipe doesn't have any play but the push pipe has a split in it. When I move this pipe I can heat a hiss which I guess must the noise when under hard acceleration.

As a temp fix/test, I put some duct tape around the split so when I moved the pipe, I no longer heard the hiss..

Took it for a test drive and the hiss has gone! Finally!

Hope this helps.
