VW Rust Warranty?
« on: October 19, 2013, 04:15:48 pm »
Just waxed my 08 Edition 30 and found a patch of rust on the edge of a panel. It's about half an inch long and the paintwork is bubbling slightly around it.
Would this be covered by any VW rust warranty? Has anyone had to go through the warranty before? How fussy are they and could they potentially refuse?

I tried it on something they wanted me to pay a small part towards it but I will be giving vw uk a call as they can get f___ed if they think I am paying as it covered under the terms of paint warranty

Mods yes but way too many to stick in this little box

Have a look through this mate.

Where is your rust? If its wheel arches, sills or boot then they are common mark v problems. If so, you may be able to get it done free of charge but its a bit of a lottery. VW won't accept it as warranty because its not perforation but they call it a goodwill gesture.

Thanks for the link...
I took a pic but need to upload it somewhere. It's on the edge of the panel at the rear left hand side where it meets the bumper. Not in an arch or on the boot itself.

I see, not heard mention of it there before. Still worth letting VW look at it though, you might get lucky.

Yeah I will give them a ring.
Second glance today it's in the seam between the panels but about an inch or two above the wheel arch. Is this where the wheel arch rust issues have been or are they actual inside the wheel arch?

The very common offender is the front wheel arches. It starts on the inside lip where it meets the arch liner and spreads outside from there where it is usually first noticed. Mine was bubbling right in the middle of the arches on the flat outer edge when it first became visible to me.
