Anyone driven one yet?

The stats and early drives of the 4` came out well and the 430D looks the engine to have with 8P S3 performance out the box and true TDI economy. Only 105 pound to tax too so I read - pretty much the all rounder on paper.

Decided I'll have one in about 8 years when they're under 20k on the used market.
Keen to hear what the 8speed auto is like with the 3.0 straight six diesel.

Take it from me that 240bhp in a TDI vs 240bhp in a petrol will result in the petrol saying bye bye to the clackety fuel of satan.
I love Diesels and I miss mine very very much.
However for driving pleasure you cannot beat a petrol.

If you want a more long distance cruiser or a workhorse to drive around the country collecting parts or attenting BIZNIZ meetings then absolutely a diesel has it's place and I'm sure this would be a fine diesel.

Still would have a 335d and a map myself.  :innocent:

I presume that the 430d would the 6 cylinder diesel lump... if so then it will be far from clackety!

I had 221bhp on a harsh dyno (I reckon it was more like 230 in the real world) and 365lb ft torque

Raced my mates 1.8t Stage 1 and 3/4  Mk4 (Apparently 232bhp) and left me standing. This was rolling from 60.
TDIs make their power 4500 times per minute when a petrol makes the same power 6500 times per minute. Stands to reason really.

I have a 330D (59 Plate 241bhp) and the stats show its 0-60 time is quicker than a std Edition 30 by 0.4secs  :wink: it also gives me 40mpg with mixed driving and 48mpg on motorway trips, slightly better than the 26mpg and 30mpg my Ed30 managed (Altho nowhere near as fun), plan on a remap soon, looking forward to 320+bhp again  :happy2:

The new 335D X Drive, hits 60 in 4.9s it's a true all rounder in every sense.

I've got a 330d and as above, its rapid, 40-42mpg on a run (mines the older 231bhp but remapped).

6cyl BMW diesels sound alright, even my mate who is a true petrol-only-head said it made a surprising nice noise when pressing on!

Mainly the rear wheel drive helping there :happy2:

320 + BHP from a remap sounds very optimistic....but then again it does depend whose rollers you go on.

320 + BHP from a remap sounds very optimistic....but then again it does depend whose rollers you go on.

Its roughly a 30% increase in power, different tuners say different outputs, some say 300bhp and some say 335bhp, I took an average  :happy2:

Remap torque is somewhere between 425-450lb/ft which is impressive.

ED30 goes from 227bhp to 295-305bhp on just a remap which is 30% increase in power

I still haven't seen a 430D anywhere. Around Instagram, on the roads, or on forums...
What I can't understand is why no-one appears to have bought it when it's by the far the most appealing to own on paper certainly in this country, possibly in Europe too?

The Yanks are crawling all over the 435i.

I have had my 430d for two weeks it is only available with auto 8 speed box, 258bhp and 600nm torque, Only covered 150 miles but the power delivery is lovely the 8sp box is super smooth ,I speced it quite high m suspension is a nice option and when going through the modes the large display shows nice colourful graphics of the car and the settings .

When the official BMW PPK kit arrives I am getting it fitted it is a new larger intercooler and ECU direct from the factory plug and play  no coding it is specced to the car I think its circa 1000gbp but unavailable on the 4 at present, it gives another 25bhp and 40-50 nm torque on the latest 330 F30 same engine so I assume it will deliver the same benefits

I have replaced a 325d coupe with the 430 it is a inch longer and  two inch wider at the rear I also think it rides a inch lower. after two weeks I am impressed a massive move forward from the E92
