What is this part? (cover) - Pic included

Hi All,

I am missing this cover below, does anyone have a part number? also if anyone has a spare that would be great  :innocent:

Also Is it safe to drive it around like this?

Hiya mate. I bought mine with it missing, didn't realise at the time   :confused: I have tried sourcing 1, but had no joy. Probably going to get an intake now anyway. Can't see it being dangerous, probably affecting the performance

Mine was missing too so i just ordered one from VW, it costs like £9

I'll take mine off at lunch to check the part number if no one else gets back to you before hand

It's just a part of the intake, it's fine to drive without.
It may slightly effect performance but not by much I would imagine.

I've run without that part for ages mate, no drop in power... I removed it because it wouldn't sit properly and didn't want it destroying itself in the rad fans.  I'm not usually a big fan of CAI's, although I've had two on the GTI, but anything to get rid of the standard bloody airbox arrangement, which is a pain to remove a pain to fit, and if not on absolutely perfectly can pull thetop of the oil filler cap off; as well as straining other areas of the induction, like you've shown.

No problem, the part number on mine is - 1K0 805 965 C

Mine was purchased about a year ago
