What's the best Glass Sealant/Rain Repellent ?

Preferable one that doesn't leave wiper trails!!!

The Autobrite one states it leaves no trails, anyone using this able to comment on it?

I use Rain-X, not the easiest to apply as is sometimes takes a couple of buffs to remove it completely and can leave smears but once you've got a couple of coats on it works brilliantly, regular application needed to the windscreen but the sides only need done every couple of months or so. AG glass polish is also quite good.

The best one to buy is the dodo juice glass sealant kit. I use the nanolex one myself wolf's do one but it's not that good on a windscreen

Glass SEALANTS and glass cleaners are not to be confused.
AG Glass Polish is a heavy chemical cleaner for glass, not a sealant.

I used Dodo Juice Supernatural, Gtechniq G1 and Carpro FlyBy30.

I prefer the Flyby30 personally but that's just because I can get it cheaper than everything else.
The Dodo Juice Supernatural has the nicest bottle and is lovely and easy to apply.
The Gtechniq G1 needs the residue remover afterwards which is a bit of a pain however it does last the longest, a full year.

Ultimately most of the higher end sealants are about as good as each other.

Rain X is not what I would call a glass sealant as it's really poor for durability. It's just popular because people can buy it in Halfords.

As above, makes turning on your wipers a rarity and an occasion at the same time :D

As the peeps above say, the Gtechniq range of products is the daddy.

Takes a bit of application but worth it. The first time you pour water in your car it will AMAZE you and rain travelling up the windscreen at speed is a sight. Mine lasted 6-9 months before I needs to buy some more.

I'm sure Rich (above) did a good write up on it, somewhere.

Whatever sealant you use, as with everything "detailing" related it's all in the prep.
You need to chemically clean the window with an abraisive. Ideally by machine.
Apply a panel wipe or IPA wipedown (strong ratio)

Ensure everything is completely clean.
Then you can apply. Use those make up applicator pads.

Glad this has been posted, been thinking of adding something to assist with the winter ice forming on screens. The Gtechniq range is alittle confusing  :rolleye:

G1 or the now G5 im lost, rain Ex is ok, but not fantastic.

G1 is a more long term permanent one.
It's harder to apply.

G5 sheets better at low speeds but is much less durable.

You need multiple layers of G1 on the windscreen to get the durability and effect (same with any sealant product really).

Many people use G1 on the front windscreen as it's more expensive and then use G5 for the side windows.

Ultimately though it's all choice of what you want.

Recommend what?
A panel wipe? Use paint preparation wipes and buff off with microfibre after or use Gtechniq panel wipe or CarPro ERASER or IPA in a strong dilution as I mentioned.
