Mikeys CW 2008 GTi
« on: August 31, 2013, 12:10:15 pm »
Well, thought it was about time I placed my toy in here..

I had planned to keep it standard.. but once you've thrown yourself over the edge of that slippery slope.. theres no clawing your way back up...

Anyways.. this is how i got the car..

Pictures from the showroom;

Other than putting my number on and changing the GTI Badges to red, I had no great plans..

..

After working in the office in montrose for a little while, the bug set in, so before i knew it i was making regualr visits to Scott (Golfman) in Dundee to get bits done to the car and coding..
Got a RNS510, Bluetooth, shark fin antenna and cruise control fitted along with some convenience coding.

Then after a few months, an incident with a stray dog dictated that i needed to get the wheels rerurbed so i took the opportunity while they were getting done at Pristine Alloys, to change from grey inserts to black..

Spending all day at work on the forum is bad for your wallet, and soon after spending all my time here;

a Forge Twintake arrived at the door;

It was soon fitted;

before;

after;

but then Jess decided that she wanted to inspect my work to ensure it met her high standards;

Other than the purchase of a bike carrier and roof rails to get me back out on the mountain bike.. all was quiet for a while;

Other than the regular washes....

and a pre-cat delete;

before;

after;

Then, before xmas we found out we were expecting so everything got put on the back burner while we prepared for the new arrival.. car seat and bases were bought.. buggies etc.. oh the joys..
but then.. in July.. our little bundle arrived;

Having a 3 door golf and a E60 BMW meant that the BMW now gets used for any child transportation as getting the car seat in the golf wasnt the easiet.. so that gave me a little free regin to start back down the slippery slope..

An R32 lower bumper was purchased (then sent off for paint) along with a resonated cat back milltek which i then bought a non res section;

These have still to be fitted but will get done this trip home.

So as it stands, what have I got planned for the future??

Well.. for a start.. i want to get the car properly detailed as these are bugging my happiness;

but i'll get to it, and think i've got enough of a product collection to manage it... lol;

(thats an old photo.. theres more to the collection now!)

The car is booked in for Stage 1 Revo in Aberdeen in October when i'm up there for a course.. Looking at buying and fitting a GFB DV+ and if i can get my hands on one, a Miltek DP with hi-flo cat!

Thats as it is just now.. i'll update the thread as and when there is progress...

Cheers

Mikey

Well a little update as to some progress thats been made..

After a properly hectic trip home.. Ive came back offshore for a rest...

During my time at home though, I got round to fitting the R32 Bumper and Exhaust;

Before

During (had to get the APC out and clean the crash bar etc as my OCD wouldnt allow it to be bogging..)

R32 Style Miltek Fitted

Bumper Fitted

I was then in Aberdeen for a week long Compex Course so took the opportunity to get the car mapped at Wallace Performance.
Got Revo Stage 1 on both Engine and DSG and have to say... what an absolute difference it has made to the car!!

I also purchased the SPS Switch;

Not sure what the plans are now for the car.. but i'm sure something shiney will be along shortly! lol

I like it! I searched for ages for a white one when I was looking!
Looks good though loving the R32 rear. All sporty golfs should come with it in my eyes.

I'm told around 260ishBHP and around 280ft lbs.. but that was from the revo figures i belive.
Wasnt able to get it on the rollers that day due to another car being booked on.

Cheers pal.
Aye thought it was about time I got some photos up! haha
The exhaust isnt as loud as I thought it might have been given the resonated-v-non resonated debates on here.. well it doesnt sound that loud inside the car.. but i'm grateful its not too loud to be fair.
That may change if(when) i fit a BCS downpipe and sports cat.. haha

Not much happening on the car just now as it looks like we're about to move house...
